Wow, this week’s gone fast! Life seems to be busy, busy at the moment and with Britmums Live this coming weekend, it’s not looking to slow down!
I am a mixture of excitement and nerves about Britmums. Excited to go and meet everyone and looking forward to the seminars. I have the awards ceremony on Friday night where, not to do myself a disservice, but I am not remotely expecting to win and will be there for the celebration, hubbub and wine. Then Saturday culminates with some of us bloggers reading out a post to the conference. Now, I actually volunteered to do this and I am OK about standing up and reading (I shall draw on my redundant acting skills) but what frightens the life out of me is the fact that it is MY writing I am reading – laying bare my literary potholes…and a sense of humour that, in my experience, is often only found amusing by me.

Sense of humour is a funny thing (scuse the pun). Everybody’s different; some more pronounced than others, some quietly sniggering, some people who just don’t get it even when it’s explained to them and some who are naturally funny without knowing it. I laugh out loud at Have I got News for You, Miranda, Frasier, Radio 4 comedy, cracker jokes, vintage pictures with modern slogans (see pic!), my children ‘dancing’ and people walking into things. A mixture of the refined and the ridiculous. Friends smile politely when I regale some hilarious thing that someone said and I realise that they either had to be there or just don’t see what’s funny. Fair dos. I just hope that the Britmums audience will be kind and chuckle. Either at my writing or me. I’m not fussy. I’ll take what I can get and scurry out as someone shouts ‘Taxi for Miles!’.
P.S. What do you think of new header? I might have spent far too long on picmonkey playing…

Looking forward to seeing you at Britmums! x
Likewise! Se you at the bar ;)
oooooh … I’m liking your new header. I’ve had a blog revamp too! Looking foward to meeting you at Britmums!
Thank you! Me too! x
hello. thanks for your comment and looking forward to meeting you at Britmums – please come and say hello.
Looking forward to (hopefully) meeting you there. I like your header, particularly that you have a voice. I wanted to be a voice for single mums who weren’t teenagers – so I get you X
