gin and tonic dietRegular followers might have realised that I am always on one diet or another.  They last anything from 1 day to 3 months according to how dedicated and motivated I am.  This time I have teamed up with BFF and we are on a mission to lose 7lbs each and be Svelte by September! (her phrase – but a good one).  In addition to the 1200 calories a day we are imposing on ourselves we are also signing up for a 10k (when we find one) and getting back in to running again.  To be fair, she runs regularly, but I have not run since my last 10k in September 2011, so need to dust off the Nikes and get going.

I have also been inspired by A Party of Seven, my blogging/twitter/Britmums pal who tweets her early morning run every morning and makes me feels guilty as I tighten my dressing gown and finish my toast.  She uses the hashtag #anothermotherrunner which I really like and can be interpreted in all sorts of ways, but to me it heralds a community of mums who run; run to get fit, to lose weight, to clear their head, to escape… She is also an AMAZING photographer, so hop on over to her blog and admire away….(but finish this post first please!).

So, I am setting myself a plan and the only reason I am publishing it on here for all the world to see (ha – now they WOULD be some stats!) is so I actually stick to it and can’t pretend I never said it.

The Plan

  • 1200 calories a day and YES that has to include wine *sobs*
  • Run at least once/twice a week.  Now the school holidays are imminent I lose the excuse of no time to do it
  • Do my shake weights every day
  • Keep My Fitness Pal app updated so BFF and I can compare progress (in addition to the three phone calls a day)

You see?  Do-able, so no excuses! Damn.

  1. suggest the 1200 cals consist entirely of wine, otherwise sanity will be put at risk :)

  2. Ah now im blushing. thx lots xx.
and i love susannah’s comment too..you should so do that x

    • I have been known to replace my dinner allocation of calories with wine…..ho hum!

  3. I keep cooking cookies, flapjack and cakes – and then can’t easel away! Think that is my problem!! Good luck, and you know I will try to lead you astray (nicely)!! Sophie x

  4. “Can’t walk away” was what I meant to type!

  5. Wow … that was inspiring – I need to get an excercise regime sorted out too!

  6. Great target, worth trying to cut back on sugar (particularly refined sugar) as much as possible as well. You’ll really notice the difference in your body and probably mood as well
